COVID-19 turned the world upside down. We are forced to face the abyss when we listen to the nightly news and learn the number of people who succumbed to the virus. The government recognized our pain and has enumerated various ways to fight cabin fever and the emotional strain brought by the pandemic.

Yet, some of us still feel overwhelmed by everything that is happening around us. Others already feel numb to the grief, while some could not comprehend the destruction and question Divine Wisdom. Why not allow God to carry the weight that you bear in your heart? After all, He said, “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matt 11:28)

Society told us to keep a stiff upper lip. But for once, allow yourself to be taken care of. Remember that Peter said, “Casting all your cares on Him because He cares about you.” (1 Pet 5:7)

This verse reminds us that we do not have to carry it alone. God is always there. If the loss of a loved one or the general condition of the world makes you question Divine Wisdom or even the existence of God, take this time to listen to instrumental music and continue reading this article.

What Is the Meaning of “Cast All Your Cares?” (1 Pet 5:7)

Allow instrumental music to break your internal barriers. Doing this will help you be more open to God’s message. Let Him heal your wounds as you read this article.

When we read this passage, you should take note that Peter starts it with an exhortation to the Christian elders. Although he refers to himself as an elder, he admonishes his fellow Christians. He encourages them to live life according to God’s precepts, not out of obligation, but willingness (1 Pet 5:2)

He continues that by doing this, the elders serve as godly examples for His flock. Peter also addresses the young believers to subject themselves to the elders by heeding to their teachings. Most importantly, they should practice what they learn.

In this verse, Peter does not only remind us of God’s continual help, but he highlights God’s love for humanity. With that said, the great apostle urges us to cast our cares upon God because He is the great  I am. Most importantly, he encourages us to do this because God loves us.

Why Do We Need to Cast Our Cares Away?

Before we answer this question, let us identify what cares are. Fear, stress, anger, and grief are examples of cares. Anything that occupies our thoughts as much as we like. Sadly, they keep us occupied way more than we like.

It is not necessarily bad or good. You can even say that our family, work, and desires are examples of cares. Ask yourself, “What are the things that you care about most in life, outside of your faith?” These are your cares.

For better or worse, whatever occupies your mind is your cares. God is asking you to share them with Him. Doing this allows us to become God-centered. That is why we need to cast our cares to Him.

Conclusion

After reading this article, kindly continue listening to instrumental music and close your eyes.
